Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this a club or a fraternity?
A: Though PTK at our college is part of the Student Activities program, we are not a club and we are not a social fraternity. We are an honor society and a professional organization that can serve you well beyond your 2-year college experience.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: ONE time fees for joining include the local chapter fee of $20, the regional fee of $10, and the national fee of $60. Sometimes we run discounts and scholarships are available. More details are under the Membership and Scholarship links.

Q: Do I have to do anything once I join?
A: We would love for you to be officially inducted, which means attending an orientation and an induction ceremony. Recently, we have run them online. After that, it's up to you if you wish to participate in all that PTK offers. You'll get more out of this organization if you are engaged and involved.

A: That depends on YOU. If you are likely to look to PTK for networking, professional development, scholarships, or career connections, then YES, it's worth the ONE-time membership fee!

Q: Do I get a record of membership?
A: After you join, you will receive a certificate and official PTK pin in the mail. Your certificate states your name, chapter, and member number. Keep that information handy in the event you transfer to another community college, or wish to join the alumni association in the Carolinas (or other) region.
Q: How do I get recognized at graduation?
A: You will be recognized with a notation on the commencement bulletin, as long as you graduate as a member in good standing. You will also be recognized by name on the CFCC web page of student achievements.
If you wish, you may purchase PTK graduation regalia: an honors stole, honors cords, and tassel for your cap. The ptk.org store sells these items to members only and sometimes, they run sales for graduation time.
